Description
The annual Festival of the Gods at the Dakka Temple is a week full of feasting, dancing, and general merriment. On the second-to-the-last day, the gods put on a carnival. They set up booths to spread their blessings and attempt to raise their popularity with the public.
The culminating event is the Godly Game extravaGanza (also known as the G-G-Ganza). The G-G-Ganza is a competition between the top gods to see who will be the Pharaoh of the Festival next year.
You are one of the gods participating in the G-G-Ganza. Just as it was about to start, Thoth ran in, panting and breathless, gasping that the Book of Thoth was missing!
The Book of Thoth contains all knowledge within its covers. Every year before the G-G-Ganza, Thoth checks on it to make sure it is still in the obelisk it’s chosen as its Sacred Resting Place (SRP). Thoth has always been concerned that one of the gods would attempt to use it for a nefarious purpose, like cheating in the G-G-Ganza. A god could easily use that knowledge to aid it in many of the night’s games, thereby securing their place as the most knowledgable god in the land.
Even though only one of you (presumably) stole it, The Book, in its power, is bouncing around from god to god, trying to make its way back to the SRP. The longer it is missing, the angrier it gets, to the point that it has started killing people… even gods.
But the show must go on! Not only do the gods present need to secure their place as the most powerful now, (a feat that can be aided if they have The Book of Thoth), but they also must discover who has the Book of Thoth so it can be returned to its SRP. No amount of points is worth the death of a god (at least that’s what the gods say who don’t have The Book). The longer the Book is away from its home, the more gods die.
Your mission is three-fold: 1) win the competition, and 2) discover the god who contains the Book of Thoth, and 3) discover who stole The Book originally so their godhood will be removed and they can live their remaining life as a mortal human.
Oh yeah, and do it before you die.
