Description
In the proud hamlet of Nicely, Nebraska, where the prairie meets the absurd, stands one of the nation’s most confusingly enthusiastic celebrations of ye olden days: The Hollis Renaissance Faire.
Its namesake, Hollis F. Blunderwhack, was a Nicely native and local legend who, after being struck by lightning in 1983 while installing a satellite dish, awoke speaking only in Shakespearean gibberish and demanding “mead, a herald, and a ban on polyester.” Believing himself the reincarnation of a medieval cooper with “exceptionally shapely calves,” he founded a festival of chivalry, funnel cakes, and mild chaos.
His crowning achievement? The commissioning of the Armour of Hollis — a handcrafted (read: dubiously welded) suit of armor said to bring honor, renown, and the best parking spot at the Faire.
But now, disaster strikes. At the very moment the Armour was to be awarded, the unthinkable happens: the Armour vanishes. The bell tolls for the Armour to be revealed, and the curtain reveals nothing but an empty pedestal, a trail of crumbs, conflicting stories, and you eight very nervous possibly felonious Faire folk.
Each has a motive. Each had the opportunity. All deny everything.
It’s up to you to untangle the mess of alibis, half-truths, and glitter-covered lies. Was it ambition? Revenge? Funnel cake-related fury?
One thing’s certain: in Nicely, Nebraska, nothing is ever truly lost — just hidden under a velvet cloak behind the deep-fried cheese booth.
